Upcoming Chapter Meeting: AAII Research Triangle
Date: Saturday, November 9, 2013
Topic: The Economy, the Market,
Demographics and the Challenges Ahead
Speaker: Doug Short, Vice President of Research, Advisor Perspectives
In this presentation, Doug Short will offer a multi-decade perspective on the U.S. economy and stock market since the beginning of the baby boom in 1946. The Dow has risen nearly 10,000%, excluding dividends, from its trough in June 1949 to its most recent all-time high. Over this time frame, several indicators provide fascinating insights into the profound changes we’ve experienced. However, some of these indicators raise questions about future U.S. economic growth. We’ll examine the evidence and a look at clues about what’s ahead based on the Census Bureau’s population forecasts for the year 2050.
