Social Security Checks Will Rise by 2% in 2018


The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that, based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index from the third quarter of 2016 through the third quarter of 2017, Social Security and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will receive a 2% cost of living adjustment (COLA) for 2018. This is after a 0.3% increase in 2017 and no increase in 2016. There hasn’t been an increase of more than 2% since 2011, according to The Washington Post.
